Hello all. Recently discovered the wonderful yolkfolk site which took me back to my youth playing a few of the Dizzy games on an Amstrad CPC464 in the 80s and 90s (games and machine which are both still with me and functioning perfectly!). Decided to download all of the available DizzyAGE remakes of original releases, but Norton Internet Security has detected WS.Reputation.1 threats in 'The Ultimate Cartoon Adventure', '3½ Into Magicland', 'Magicland', and 'Prince of the Yolkfolk', so, is there a mirror download available anywhere for these {yolkfolk}:puzzled: Many thanks.
What browser do you use to download the games? I know Google Chrome often show a threat warning on our games even though they have no threats on them at all.
I've never used Norton so I'm not aware of how that works, but I can assure you that none of the games we host on this site have NO viruses on it despite what anti-viruses are falsely claiming. What message do you get when you try to download a game? Does it not give you the option to go ahead with the download?
I'm afraid I'm not aware of any mirror downloads outside of Yolkfolk, but I promise you that NONE of the games have any threats despite what some anti-virus software say.
Sorry if my post isn't helpful at all but I'll have a word with the admins and see if there's anyway of stopping these false threat claims on our site downloads if you're still having difficulties.
In my experience, Norton loves to give false positives. I should use a better, cheaper AV, as Norton is a rotten piece of software imho. I have had Chrome winge that "This file is not downloaded often" but I just force it through, and can confirm that I have never received a virus from this site.

The downloads themselves are successful (using IE9 on Windows Vista), but when I try to either install or simply run the specific games mentioned, Norton Internet Security warns that the dizzy.exe file in each case contains threat 'WS.Reputation.1' and immediately removes the file from my system, so I have no option to override. Any further assistance would be appreciated, but in the meantime I will try using Firefox, and see if the result is the same.
frogandhat, thanks for your response too. Have always been more than happy with how Norton has protected my system over the past 9 years, but that's my preference. Nothing is perfect, but hopefully, it will be possible to resolve this problem.
Never bothered with most of the 'pre-loaded' antivirus software - allows the companies to charge fortunes for upgrades. Get thee to ESet for their home computer antivirus software Nod32 - Just over £50 for three years and automatic updates every couple of hours. Plus, I've never had 'threat' problems with any downloaded games from this site.

That sounds familiar, it doesn't sound like a problem relating to which browser you use.
I use AVG and I remember it falsely claimed that two exe files (Both non-Dizzy games) had "threats" on it.
I managed to fix that though as AVG has a feature in Advanced Settings called "Exceptions" where you enter the location of the .exe file in question to a list where you will you be able to open that file without any virus warning messages appearing. Does Norton have something similar to that?
I hope this will give you some ideas, It's absolutely ridiculous that any anti-virus software would falsely tell you that certain .exe files have viruses, It's not true at all and everything we host on this site is completely safe.

Have discovered that Norton has the option to manually restore the file claimed to have a threat, so I will do that for each game involved, and run a scan using other security freeware (Malwarebytes for example) and determine whether or not to run the .exe file. The advice gleaned from Norton forums is that the 'WS.Reputation.1' threat may arise if the file has only been used by a very small number of users over a long period of time, and therefore not enough information can be collected. Yeah i just tried installing POTYF and my Norton didn't like it either, even though if scanned by Norton it won't don't a threat. You just have to tell Norton it's safe, it probably hasn't got enough info about the film to it's being over protective.. basically doing it's job. Been using Norton for 7 years it's been a life safer, online and computer security is essential, i won't compromise.

So they say it is a threat, not because it has found a threat, but because the file is not 'popular' enough for them to say it is not! (now where is that 'slaps forehead in exasperation' smilie? Oh, well, this will have to do {yolkfolk}:jawdrop: ) I agree with Grandad, get rid of pre-loaded 'security' software ( Norton, McAfee) ASAP and install something else. Avast and AVG are both free and pretty good.
Meph, Norton will always be my first choice, whether 360 or NIS...and whilst still able to purchase new and sealed examples from 2011 for under a tenner on a certain auction site for a year's subscription, great value for money. :teethy:
frogandhat, I'd much rather err on the side of caution when it comes to looking after the security of a PC, but it's time to start playing the games now, woohoo! {yolkfolk}:delight:
I use to have 360 but i downgraded to the next one, only different i could see was cloud storage space which i never used. I won't put my faith in a freebie, Norton was a life saver last year when my router got hacked, hate to think what info i would have lost had a freebie been on guard.. you get what you pay for.
I have used AVG free since 1998 and never caught a virus, it has caught every threat that I received. And I cannot remember ever getting a false positive from it, so I am very pleased with it. Worth every penny! :yes:
I use to have AVG, (the one with the umbrella ?) it was quite good. My desktop still have a free one and i never have any problems with that, still got XP on it lol But i only really use it for games or facebook if i use it at all. But my Laptop i use for everything.. and i mean everything so i just can't take a risk. Plus Norton keeps it clean and running smoothly without me having to do anything.. this laptop is now 7 years old and going strong. So for the sake of £30 piece of mind.
Norton is very good, i wouldn't touch Avast anymore, had that on one of the other Desktops and it kept wanting install something onto my router, and demanding i paid them to do it.
People claim McAfee and Norton and others are rubbish but can never give an explanation as to why. Other than 'because i use such and such instead so it must be better'
Norton so far is the only one that hasn't giving me any grief, become corrupted, or broken.
