I doubt anyone remembers my first post, where i'd proposed a non-profit Dizzy remake for X-Box Live Community Games which got stomped on, but someone else has taken up the mission it would seem, looks very promising! I've read the guy's posts on Neogaf and he really knows what he's talking about when it comes to Dizzy.

Here's his game anyway, out by March for 400 points.Watercolour Political Platform Puzzler 'Clover' Announced

Binary Tweed Ltd. today announced the return of the classic platform-puzzle adventure with d'but title Clover, to be released in Q1 '09 via Xbox LIVE Community Games for 400 Microsoft Points. Rendering a much-missed genre in watercolour, accompanied by melancholy piano pieces and laced with political themes, Clover embodies Binary Tweed's frank motto of 'New games that are a bit like old games, but better.'

Set in a medieval world ruled by a monarchy with a welfare state, Clover tells the story of Sam, an adolescent teenager. Recently orphaned after his lone parent mother died in a shock attack on the proud nation of Sanha, Clover follows Sam's journey of discovery as he explores the land and events surrounding his loss.

Clover is a plot-driven platformer in the style of classic titles such as Fantastic Dizzy that sees the player solve logical puzzles by collecting items, talking to a diverse cast of characters and exploring artistically realised environments. Featuring many hours of gameplay and plot development, Clover promises value-for-money beyond other Xbox LIVE Community Games. The game innovates on its predecessors with modern gameplay mechanics, such as unique and forgiving alternatives to player 'health' and 'death'.

'Clover is a game about artwork and plot; so much so that we're struggling to fit everything within the size limit,' said Daniel 'Deejay' Jones, Managing Director of Binary Tweed. 'We wanted to make a game that has the artistic charm to appeal to a broad audience, whilst exploring issues that communicate to adult gamers.'

'ello all,

Deejay from Binary Tweed here. If you're interested in Clover, you can see an HD trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTi7PLQXhTc&fmt=22

I'd be quite interested to see what the Dizzy community has to say about it. Being a massive Dizzy fan myself, it'll be fun to see if anyone manages to spot some of the obscure references. Some are blatant, but there's one that I doubt anyone will get!

Brilliant, more psyched now i've seen it in action! Looks gorgeous, i really hope people give it a fair shot rather than throwing out the Braid comparisons!

Was constantly checking your Twitter over the weekend for when it might be up, was gutted when you said you had to wait another 7 days!

Guys, where's the love for this game? Thought there'd be more of a buzz for what looks like the closest we'll come to getting a Dizzy game on X-Box anytime soon!

No one said it looked like a Dizzy game? I'm saying we won't be getting a Dizzy game on X-Box, and this is pretty much looking like the next best thing right now.

you said 'the closest we'll come to getting a Dizzy game' but it doesn't even come close.

How does a 2D narrative driven platformer with a get object, use object mechanic not come close?

When i get round to going on xbox live - i'll certainly check this out.
I can see where it is similar to Dizzy - so i'd love to give it a play.

Is there any chance it'll be released in PC/ flash version so non-xbox people can have a play?

I thought i saw a couple of frames in the trailer that looked like they were inspired from the background of dizzy games - the church from fantasy world, and something from treasure island perhaps?

Just out of interest - it looks like this has a medieval setting with a modern character, any particular reason? & why does the music sound a tad melancholy? is this because something tragic happens in the game?

Also Clover's an interesting title - any particular reason for it?

Thumbs up from me {yolkfolk}

I'd definitely give it a go if it was released for PC, as I am sans-xbox.

I think a PC is planned, certainly some talk of it on the Binary Tweed twitter!

Completed the game this morning, end time was 1 hour 32 minutes.

Beautiful game, really brought back a lot of the feelings i used to experience playing Dizzy games back on the CPC.

Blimey, I really should've put more effort into keeping up to date with replies!

As Stu's pointed out, we're waiting to make an announcement, but I've been waiting for various people to come back from holiday. I've been working with some ace people, and I'm sure you lot would appreciate who I'm talking about. Boyhood fantasies have indeed been achieved!

@DizzyFanUK: Pretty much all the games were inspiration. Clover's got a castle, a church, two islands, beaches and caves. Treasure Island definitely inspired the fact there's two islands in the game, but other than that I don't think there's too many scenes that are directly referenced. There's quite a few homages in the game, some so obscenely obscure that not even the Oliver twins would notice!

Went for a medieval theme as I wanted it to have a degree of fantasy in it, but still be believable. The plot is very much the opposite of what you'd expect from a Dizzy game.

@Big Stu: Cheers for the big-ups!

I DO have an Xbox, and Clover has been a game I've been going to pick up for a couple of weeks now... But, seeing the information on the PC version means I'll be waiting for that! So it looks like my Indie Game time will continue to be eaten up by Miner Dig Deep {yolkfolk}:dizzy:

A bit off-topic, but Pixel Man is rather entertaining in a retro way. And only 80MSP!
