i forgot we had the Emerald eye game, if i had remembered before i had done anything i would have changed it to a sapphire or ruby. its to late now to change everything.. oh well.
i've been doing a bit of tweaking and editing this weekend as i haven't touched the thing for two weeks other then testing due to work. its playable, and pretty much complete but I'm still no sure if its good enough. still have some small extras to add which are essential but i think adding any more might just drag the thing on to much.. I'll have to see how i feel come the weekend..
probably wont do any more games until i stat one for the 09 comp, i just really wanted to make another before then to try out things i didn't get the chance to do in the last.. and make more of a game.
Nope. lol, hopeing to get someone to test it come June. but I'm not in any rush to put it out yet as theres a few games coming out soon and people are still getting over the easter ones.
i thought it was finished about 3 weeks ago, but after having two weeks away from it due to work by the time i came back to give it a look a few more ideas materialized.. so I'm see what happened over the next week.
theres something missing... but then that might be because i've been looking at the thing for so long.. so i guess Fresh pair of eyes having a look is essential.. after all it might be ok the way it is. lol
*** The red board is part of a painting i did many years ago (see avatar) but when edited for the game the quality was shot.. while I'm quite keen to keep the red boarder as it ties in with all my other stuff, the other graphics i don't like which i will be changing...(other then the emerald) but not sure if i can part with the red border.
oh and somethng else.. while you wont see it in those screenshots many(most) of the rooms are named after songs by.... well i see if anyone can work it out when playing the game.. thats just what happens when you edit room names while listening to music..lol
I've finished tampering around with this, and on schedule.. only real concern is its might be to easy...lol i don't know..
anyone wants to give it a look give me a shout, could do with some feedback.
oh Synopsis. One night during a storm Grand dizzy tells the yolk folk about the legend of the Emerald which contains mystic powers. It was banished from the land to prevent anyone from gathering its powers,
Few days later one morning a board Dizzy decided to find out if the myth is true and take the Emerald. No one quit knows what the Emeralds powers really are, good or evil some say it has the ability to imitate life and gives birth to new life, while others claim its destructive and dangerous.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind trying it out but I don't know how soon you want feedback and I really gotta work hard on my game now otherwise I'll have to take my comp to my dads =)
well theres no rush..i mean its not gonna matter to me or anyone if it finished today, tomorrow or next month..
I'm always changing and adding stuff, Evey week i tell myself this is it i can't do anymore.. and then i think of something, so that will probably still happen while the initial game is having a test.
oh yeah, its not huge anyway.. but I'm not talking about map expansion.. i did add a few new part to make it more interesting but i thinking of introducing a few more puzzles and baddies maybe.. just work with what i've already got which is why i need a 2ns opinion first really to see if its really needed.. then again i might just go ahead and do it.
You can add stuff in your game, as long as it's improving it.
But you have to weight it well, and see if it is indeed an improvement. You must avoid to complicate the story or the puzzles, just because you have a new nice idea. You can always use it in another game if it doesn't fit in this one. And if it's a really great puzzle, maybe it can replace a wicker one.
In adventure games design, solving puzzles must push the player forward, but puzzles should not be added as obstacles, which prevent player from reaching the final goal. The puzzles should be solutions to logic and real problems that already exist in his path.
Many games suffer from this mistake. Probably the designer thinks he has a nice puzzle and he just insert it as a new obstacle for the player to deal with. And sometime this is done just to achieve the target playtime.
Anyway, it was proven that inspiration comes as you work, so your ideas might be pretty good ones. Don't worry about implementing them. Just make sure you extra-test them for eventual bugs.
I'll email you sometime Sunday evening probably, (unless you really want it now) once i've packed it and made sure all the bits and bobs are in the correct place.. i don't really feel like doing it now lol.
I think its fine as it is to be honest, be ideal to get a fresh pair of eyes giving it a look, feedback is important.
:egg:
In fact i don't think adding any more will improve it, just drag it out and doing it for the sake of it.. or repeating myself. but it might be a case of changing it. anyway will see.
Gonna send this off i think now.. its been sitting here un-touched for the past 3 to 4 weeks..lol i just one little test which i quite enjoyed to be honest..as i haven't looked at it for so long.. good job because i found a massive bug and a few silly little things.. so thats them sorted.. however i died in my own game.. how sad it that..lol clearly it far to difficult.. lol
haha i always die in my own games! so much so that i started using the dev mode to move around everywhere, which is why i didn't spot the massive flaws in MSD {yolkfolk}:redfaced:
morale of the story? always ensure you can complete your own game, WITHOUT using dev mode! anyway, i'm looking forward to your game, and seeing how much you've progessed with DizzyAGE!
because i haven't look at it for a while i kinda forgot where a few things were..... in fact i had to look at the map for the last coin.. LOL oops But i quite enjoyed my little stomp around.. i kinda got sick of the sight of it but i think its a reasonable game after having alittle play again. hopeing its not too easy... .. logic in everything
