@noggin-the-nog I've had a proper play earlier. {yolkfolk}:thumb:
The title screen is 90% done and is just missing a bit of graphics for the high-score. If you go to the .ini file and set textoff=0, the characters names will appear on the title screen. Do you think it looks better without them?
I think it looks OK with the text. Doesn't bother me personally.
The graphics in the intro sequence aren’t finished, but what’s there should tell the story ok.
It does.

The only tiny nitpicky bit is that the land is known as Zakeria - not Keldor, which is a town not far from the Yolkfolk village.
Do look through the game menu – I’ve made quite a few changes.
Top notch!

Especially the game status screen, very helpful if you lose track of who you've met or already helped.
Does the intro/plot/dialogue make sense, more or less?
It does for me, certainly original.
Is the difficulty level ok?
So far, I think its reasonable enough, even though it took me a while to get my bearings of where I can go and which available items I can use.
Are the puzzles all solvable?
So far, I'm doing alright with the puzzles, but I'm still yet to play more later on.
And finally, do you see any glitches in the graphics?
Not yet.

Even though I'm on a knackered 10 year old laptop that still run on Win7 (32-bit).
Anyway, hope you like it!
Absolutely enjoying it so far. {yolkfolk} Especially after getting the hang of how the colour orb things behave and affect the game.

Loving the demo so far! "Too much detail"? Maybe, but in that sense you are man after my own heart!

There are so many cute game mechanics that have given me ideas for my own game... The "file fairy"? You are a genius. The hurt emotion tiles are such a good idea! Why didn't I think of that? Dizzy shaking his head when you try to use the menu underwater... The way the interacts with certain objects like foliage and the bells. And the frogs! I recently programmed something similar in my own game, so they were great fun to interact with. And obviously I'm enjoying the all-important puzzles, so far I'm very happy with the difficulty level.

I did find one big glitch straight off the bat though which is that I permanently lose all visuals in the game when I try to make it full screen.

Anyhow, trying to work out what do at the "Flufflarium" now, and loving the game so far! Encourages me to get some more work done on my little patchwork of plagiarism (honestly the number of people I'm gonna have to thank in the credits is ridiculous).

As for the title screen, I personally prefer it with the character names. Plot and dialogs are highly entertaining. I love the random facts Grand Dizzy shares about the eyeballs!

Also it was nice to see how the village of Cigam has been developed!

I had always assumed that Zakeria was the name the evil wizard Zaks gave to the land while he was in power (like General Tapioca and Tapiocopolis in Tintin) but that as soon as he was ousted the land had its original name restored. Like Noggin I assumed Keldor was the name of the land Dizzy lives in.

Oh, just noticed something in the dialogs, although it is pretty nitpicky. I noticed Dizzy addresses the king as "your grace", as far as I'm aware that title is used only for archbishops, dukes and duchesses. I would have opted for "sire" or "your majesty".

Encountered another glitch when walking the star-shaped balloon (still grey) under the collum and up the little hill under the "flufflarium", I got the following error message which kept repeating and forced me to close the game:

OUTBOUND, 29, 29, ""

Data\Scripts\ai.gs:458

FrogMatrix1:458 < FrogFloor:440 < AIUpdateFrog:362 < UpdateRoom_6_10:713 < HandlerGameUpdate:159

Kicking myself about this one - the last thing I did before pakking the files was correcting one of these.

@noggin-the-nog Here's how far I've come...
- Referee's Whistle (used once)
- Paleontologist's Brush
- A Child's Kite
- A Miner's Hard Hat
- A Personal Stereo

Helped:
- Colour Dozy

- Grey Knight

- Grey Grand Dizzy
- Grey Glenda
- Grey Denzil
- Colour Dylan

Have access to colours:
- Yellow
- Green
- Red
- Purple
I've not yet spotted any glitches, not even in full screen mode.

There's no official mention of what the kingdom was originally called before Zaks took over.

Although I think you can get away with calling it the land of Katmandu like in the first game.

@noggin-the-nog

I completed the demo! {yolkfolk} Absolutely loved it. Was I the first, or has anyone beat me to it?
The puzzles you said you were concerned about were actually some of my favourites, I found them fairly intuitive although I wasted a bit of time (and fruit) being an idiot in the flufflarium. I think the difficulty level was perfect, no complaints.

I appreciated "brother Charlie", what's a Dizzy game without a few pop culture references?

The references to the original games were also great fun.

Shame I didn't get to meet an eyeball but hey ho that's something to look forward to!

Glitches:

Minor graphics glitches with empty parts of the map showing up, one when entering the area below the haunted forest and another when walking out from the crocodile river.

I was also able to move push the step ladder beyond the confines of the orchard.
Can't wait for the full game to be released! {yolkfolk}:joy: Thank you for the demo and keep up the good work!

@andrey-mashinistov Cheers Andrey. It's good to know for sure that someone can solve all the puzzles without having to read my mind.   By the way, how did you solve the flufflarium? AFAIK there are 3 different ways to do it - two I intended and one that I didn't.

And well done on finding the bug in the orchard. That's very helpful. {yolkfolk}

At the current rate of progress, expect the finished game in about 3 years! What about your project? Have you done a DizzyAGE game before?
Well, at first I tried to distract the other fluffles to isolate Pogie but I seemed to be wasting my plums that way and going and picking them again was a pain so I took a break. When I came back I just placed plums one after another on the (left) trapdoor above the cage and hoped for the best, I got Pogie second time. That left me thinking I'd overthought it. What are the other ways of solving it? Was there a particular strategy I missed?
I have been making DizzyAGE games for years but never finishing them. One reason for this is that I have many interests/projects and a bad habit of flicking between them. The other reason is perfectionism. My early attempts at games were just experiments really, I used to be limited by what I knew how to do but these days I'm a pretty competent programmer and pixel artist, unfortunately, however, being able to create pretty much whatever I set my mind to has not increased the rate of production but rather slowed it. I have a game I have been working on for sometime now and am happy quite with, I plan to share with the community at some point but it will take a while to finish. I tend to do things like revamp the entire hud, inventory or dialog system when I get the urge or I create a highly detailed new tile set which only gets used in a couple rooms.

It's hard to say what stage of production my game is currently in since my plans for the ending are little nebulous, however, I'd say it is probably around 20% complete. I often make puzzles out of order so I keep a "development diary" to keep track of gaps. Maybe I should make a demo?Hearing people's feedback would probably boost my motivation.

I'm sorry to say I do.

I've got a rough idea of what I need to do according to what the scroll to the left of the fluffles say, but according to what Andrey has said in the spoiler, I somehow don't think I'm at the point where I can find any food anywhere.

I found making the demo very helpful, because it gave me a near-term goal to work towards. I'd already put quite a lot of work into the project, but it had been sitting idle for over a year and it was hard to get motivated to go again. So I just decided to finish what I had, add a small mine section, a small mountain section, fill in all the graphics and dialogue I hadn't finished and just post it for others to play. The result is I've made a fair bit of progress with the final game.

The trouble is, this is such a small community now, it doesn't really seem worth posting here any more. When I first found this place it was quite busy. You'd expect to see at least one new post every day most likely, but now weeks or even months can go by with no activity at all.

If anyone is lurking and reading this, maybe you've played the demo, do make yourself known. It'd be much appreciated if you said hello.

And about the fluffles:
The idea was that you had to pick the right colours to beat the puzzle. A coloured fluffle always beats a grey fluffle in a fight so you had to have purple for Pogie, red or yellow for the plum, but not the colour for the other fluffle Pogie fights (either red or green). You can also just put the purple plum at the far end of the barn as a distraction, then use a second plum to catch Pogie but I didn't intend that.
Hi Adz. No! That's not the puzzle I meant! Think about what happens when you try to drop a balloon.

@noggin-the-nog Ah yeah, I managed to solve it right away.

I also managed to make major progress, including catching Pogie which took me a while and helped grey Charlie too.

EDIT: Anyway, here's where I'm stuck now...
- Plastic Raincoat
- Box of Matches
- Walking cane
- Oily rag
- Palaeontologist Brush
- Referee's whistle

It's not unusual for this place to go quiet from time to time.

However, I do think EA buying Codemasters has worsened the lack of activity here, which gives me the impression that almost everyone's given up with Dizzy, the Oliver Twins certainly have - knowing EA's history.

Even though I often post news from time to time, sharing on Yolkfolk's social media pages picks up several Likes/Reactions, but little to no reaction here.

However, the only time I do see more activity here is whenever a new fan game is released, especially when Deflector released his latest game last year, the help section went berserk.

So really its new fan game releases that get's something going these days, it may not be a lot of people from the past, but its close enough.

@khaosadz I do sometimes wish that this little community would gain new fans sometimes, but then I remember what happened to some online communities that got TOO popular, not to mention the horrible people in some of them...

Oh well, I guess that's probably for the best.

Also, hey Noggin! I've been really enjoying your demo so far! I really like the story and the color mechanics! So far, this is

what I've done:

Help color Dozy

Help grey Grand Dizzy

The only color I have access to currently is Yellow

Current Items: Mash Hammer, Paleontologist's Brush, and a Mason Chisel

I don't really know how to do the spoiler thing yet, so the white text will have to do!

True, it does pick up when there's a new fan game, so there must still be people looking in. As to the game, there are 2 puzzles available where you are I think. Both involve paying attention to things moving in the background. (Or do I mean foreground?)

@khaosadz Yes, there's the 2nd puzzle still available and the same advice applies.

Sorry to be coy, but I'm hoping you'll kick yourself when you realise the puzzle. (Or maybe I need to add a dialog to indicate where it is {yolkfolk} )
