Hello All,

It looks like I'm never going to finish another game on DizzyAGE so I made a video of all the ideas I've been playing around with the past few years.

Here's the link, if you're interested: https://youtu.be/I8Hvyj7DPtE

I liked the shades of 'Pleasantville' in the demo Simon, but will miss your quirky games.

I'm sorry to read this, Simon.

It is an absolute shame we won't see any more from you, as those demos show you have a lot of talent with the engine, talent I wish I had myself.

I hope the feedback I provided from when I tested the racing game a couple of years ago hasn't discouraged you at all, I never intended to put anybody off at all.

Still, you should consider releasing some of those advanced looking demos for future references, you never know that it may spark some interest for someone else down the line.
There's nothing more sad than seeing great talent go to waste.

Goodness me no. I had a real good go at doing the racing game. Was really pleased I worked out how to do AI karts to race against, but I hit a big, maybe insoluble problem coding their collisions with the scenery - you can see a bit of it in the video I think.

I liked the "picking colours" game idea very much. Perhaps you'd consider finishing it?
It's a real pity that the DizzyAGE community is dying out...The Russians too, and I really liked their remake of "Dizzy X" (I have never played the original, by the way - I have never had a Spectrum) and was hoping for a remake of "Dizzy Y" too... And another Russian Dizzy game was promised for last year, and nope, no news at all...

Hi Nowhere Girl, I sort of still around popping in and out but sadly it unlikely I would be looking to make another game due to not really having the time anymore but you never know, there would be a lot to relearn now too given been a few years since the last release.

I'm still playing around with DizzyAGE from time to time. I made a little video of one of my ideas - it's just a little change in the game mechanics, but I'm kinda pleased with it.

Nice one Simon. Making the screen not jump up and down to automatically center Dizzy looks good, and I liked the little extra at the end of making the cloud go 'puff' when Dizzy dropped out of it.

Nicely done sir. {yolkfolk}:thumb:

Thanks guys. I guess the video doesn't look like much but I was very pleased with how Dizzy falls through the cloud at the end. The point is the code works for every cloud - the further you fall from, the deeper you sink and if you fall from too high you pop straight through. (Unless you carry an umbrella maybe, who knows?)

Hi, Simon. {eggs3}

The ideas in those videos are amazing! {yolkfolk}

I particularly liked the electric fan and bomb puzzle, it makes me want to try something similar! If it is possible and not too much trouble, would you mind explaining how you programmed the "cloud puff", the "descent into darkness" and the "movable flashlight beam"? I'm working on creating a splash effect for when Dizzy hits water and I think the cloud coding could come in handy for that.

Its's a great shame your ideas never made it into a game, you will always be the best Dizzyage game creator in my book!

Just wanted to announce, I'm still occasionally working on a DizzyAGE game. It's only half-finished and I figure I've bitten off more than I can chew, but I'm trying to get a demo version completed, just so what I've done gets a bit of play.

I want to post the demo here in a few weeks. Watch this space.

@noggin-the-nog YES! {yolkfolk}:yahoo: A new game by Noggin the Nog! The second most exciting thing in the world after discovering a new Lesley Gore song!

P.S. Is my life boring?

P.P.S. "Where are all the magic colors?" Sorry, I couldn't help myself. {yolkfolk}:music:

So here's the demo I promised you:

EDIT: I've removed the file from DropBox now.

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yicwoobqxphd5zlvyborv/SpectrumDizzyDemo.zip?rlkey=pwcquhgllgnwx2nhnoql0qshw&dl=0

It's very much a work in progress, but roughly speaking the first half of the game is finished and ready to play.

The title screen is 90% done and is just missing a bit of graphics for the high-score. If you go to the .ini file and set textoff=0, the characters names will appear on the title screen. Do you think it looks better without them?

The graphics in the intro sequence aren't finished, but what's there should tell the story ok.

Do look through the game menu - I've made quite a few changes.

Could I get some feedback on a few things: Does the intro/plot/dialogue make sense, more or less? Is the difficulty level ok? That's impossible for me to know. Are the puzzles all solvable? I got some anxiety about the fluffles, the crocodile and the puzzle involving the balloons.

And finally, do you see any glitches in the graphics? Especially if you have an older or slower computer. I've seen a few while playing the game through and I wonder if I've maybe put too much detail into the game.

Anyway, hope you like it!
