Thinking about making a Dizzy fan game using the Thief 2 Editor...

Not sure where to post this. Anyway, I was thinking about the way things work in Thief 2. And now that I'm using the unofficial 1.21 patch, I have more possibilities. So, I figured that I could somehow make a Dizzy game out of Thief 2. {yolkfolk}:thumb:
What do think, guys. Should I go for it? {yolkfolk}:dizzy:

You could try I guess, I don't know anything about Thief 2 but I have looked at screenshots on Google.

That could be incredibly interesting. The Thief games are some of my favorite games of all time.

OK, I've decided to go for it. It will take a bit of time before I have something to show. You may have already seen what I can do in Thief 2 on youtube. But just in case, you'll know me there as 0GORT0 (Shaun Morin).

Dizzy with a Blackjack? Sneak up behind Zaks and wallop! Sounds good to me!
Good luck Gort!
And if anyone hasn't played Thief 2, then go get it, its a really good game, and even though it is over 10 years old now, there are still fans out there making their own levels. There are hundreds of fan missions available, amounting to many hundreds of hours of free gameplay, on top of the excellent game itself. Better stop gushing or this will get moderated into the 'Other Games' thread

{yolkfolk} Before I start going off on making all of the models, I should get a good storyline to get things moving a bit faster. So, I'm asking what kind of a storyline would the people want here out of a Dizzy game? Suggestions are welcome.

OK, guys. I'm nearly done with TROTB 2 so that means I'll be able to get working on this project. Right now, I'm creating the yolk folk models. Once I've got them all made up, I'll try to post some pics of them. {yolkfolk}:thumb:

Things are a bit busy for me at the moment, but I am working at it. Here's a test model of Dizzy. The question I have here is whether or not I should have his arms and legs. {yolkfolk}:raspy:

Hi Gort,

That's looking pretty good. You seem to have picked a very ambitious project - how much of the graphics are you going to have to draw yourself?

Also, does Dizzy have a nose?

So far, its just me. It's going to take a great deal of time, but I think I can do it. I like making these models. It's like having fun with legos in a more advance way. Kinda brings the kid out of me. {yolkfolk}:raspy:
I also usually make my own mission layouts and my own textures for the terrain of the mission maps.

Yes, he does have a nose. I'm trying to go by the map that came with Fantastic Dizzy. I think it'll be a bit of fun. The only tedious part might be is to try to make custom motions for these characters (if only there was a motion capturing tool for Thief 2...). So yeah, quite a project indeed. {yolkfolk}:joy:

OK, I have one more question here. So, I've kinda brainstormed a storyline for this. I just want to know. Should I use the existing areas that are on the Fantastic Dizzy map, or should I just make a whole new area for Dizzy's adventure? {yolkfolk}

I would like to see the locations seen on Fantastic Dizzy. But It's up to you really.

OK, I am now working on one of the missions. It's "Down The Rapids". Here's a video of what I've got so far.

As you can see, there's quite a lot to be done here. I may make the terrain textures more Dizzy like. Right now, its all Thief 2 textures.

Looking good, Gort!
Good luck with this.

Progress is kinda slow at the moment (I'm trying to get a Graphic Design position at my workplace). Also, I'm trying to gather maps of areas, but I can't seem to find the rapids map for Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy (NES). So here's the question for that mission. Should I still try to make the map just like the original version (that means playing the level and study the layout) or should I create my own layout?

Awesome! Thank you very much. {yolkfolk}:thumb:

I'll get on it as soon as I can. This level will take place in the morning.

Here's what I've got so far. It's not much, but I'm making good progress here. {yolkfolk}:joy:

Well, I'm almost halfway done with the main area of the map. Here's two pics to compare between the NES and what I'm working on in the editor, DromEd.

It's not perfect, but I'm liking how its turning out so far.
