Unlike the recent update to “The Dark Wizard”, this game has not been rebuilt from scratch, but it has been given a less time consuming overhaul that will hopefully make the game itself more enjoyable.
— A disclaimer from EA added when the game starts up.
Meaning the old disclaimer on the Dizzy Fansite splash screen is now gone.
— The main Dizzy engine has been tweaked to add updated features taken from AndyUK’s cancelled “Lost Land Dizzy” engine.
– The player will no longer slide on ramped or rounded platforms.
– The player can now jump repeatedly when the ‘jump’ button is held.
Despite the fixes, the engine is still quirky in places.
— Because of the updated engine, mushrooms have now been added to some levels.
They didn’t exist in the previous version because the functions for the mushrooms stopped working and I didn’t know how to fix it at the time.
— Game now uses the Ultimate Fullscreen plugin I previously introduced in “A Heroes Tale” and v2 of “The Dark Wizard”.
— The level graphics, sprites and HUD have been redesigned.
Some characters have had their appearances changed too.
— The story and all the character conversations have been improved.
— At the start of each level, the name of the location is shown at the top of screen for 6 seconds.
A feature first introduced in “Dangerous Tymes”.
— There’s a minor performance issue when you face the giant bird at the end of Chapter 2.
I have no idea what’s causing it nor how to fix it.
