Trivia & History
Fast Food(also known as "Fast Food Dizzy" or "Dizzy’s Fast Food") is the first arcade game in the Dizzy series.

Created by Philip and Andrew Oliver (The Oliver Twins) and published by Codemasters for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC 464, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST and PC DOS in March 1989.

The game was also released as part of both the 8-bit and 16-bit “Dizzy Collection” compilations.
Aswell as being released on the “Fun Play” cartridge for the Commodore 64.

On the 6th November 2020, the Oliver Twins released a new version of Fast Food using “Fuze” for the Nintendo Switch.
They both programmed and tested the game themselves earlier in the year.

A shortened, altered version of the game called “Easter Eggstravaganza” was made available on the “Amiga Action” and “ST Action” coverdiscs in May 1993.
Completion of this game will give players a code which would allow them to enter a competition in the magazines.

Fast Food was originally planned to be a marketing tool for the restaurant chain, “Happy Eater”.
However, this was dropped during development after the deal with Happy Eater fell through.
This resulted in Dizzy replacing the restaurant chain’s mascot.

On this Pac-man style Dizzy game, you have to complete each level by collecting or chasing all the food in the mazes; Pizza, Milkshakes, Chickens and Burgers (Plus some other pieces of food on the 16-bit versions).
At the same time, Dizzy has to avoid the 4 monsters; Bonzo, Wizza, Pippa and Fido.

Because of the simplicity to design Arcade style video games, the game was playable within 3 days of work and only required 2 more weeks to finalise all graphics, interface and music.

You get a 50 point bonus for finishing a level.
After every third level completed, you earn an extra life aswell as a short cartoon to watch.

There are a number of special items for Dizzy to collect that randomly appear on each level.
-- RED TOKEN – Slows down the entire game for a short time.
-- GREEN TOKEN – Speeds up the entire game for a short time.
-- INVISIBLE TOKEN – Saves Dizzy from being harmed by the monsters for a short time.
-- SHIELD – Allows Dizzy to get rid of the monsters when he touches them, again only lasts for a short time.
-- RELISH BOTTLE – Slows down the monsters for a short time.
-- MUSTARD BOTTLE – Freezes the monsters in place for a short time.
-- KETCHUP BOTTLE – Removes all the monsters on screen for a short time.
-- SPEED SHOES – Makes Dizzy run faster for a short time.

On the later levels, there are thin hedges that only Dizzy can go through which are very useful.
There are also dead hedges which Dizzy can kick down if he gets a good run up.
If you find a way to beat a level, chances are that it could work next time too.

The 8-bit versions of the game has 30 levels.
After completing Level 30, the player is sent back to Level 10 with the screen upside down.

The 16-bit versions has 40 levels.
Again, completing Level 40 will send the player back to Level 1 with the screen upside down.
